My Philosophy
As an educator, my role is to provide a quality education that is appropriate for child development ages and skills. I trust that music and performing art education could stimulate and open opportunities for young imaginations, challenge perceptions and develop creative and analytical skills.
Pedagogy
In the classroom, I encourage students to use their whole senses to interact with in an interdisciplinary context and the cultural histories of artworks. The activities in my music lessons require them to be creative, disciplined, and flexible individuals and work cooperatively. I always concentrate on supporting the development of the inquiry that leads them to connect knowledge with the aesthetic of the real world.
I've got inspired and adopted concepts from major international music education approaches such as Orff-Shuwerk, Kodaly, Dalcroze and Suzuki, which foster a fun, engaging, positive learning environment that offers hands-on music-making and promote creativity and critical thinking through music and body movement singing and playing musical instruments.
Goals
I have a passion for music, art, global culture and futuristic education. I would like to explore and dive deep into the context above with my students. As well as an International music educator, My main goal is to facilitate learning and prepare students to be global citizens who know how to connect learning from the classroom to the larger world. I would like to help them explore the world through music and art diversity, respect different cultures, develop an understanding of global challenges and have a commitment to act as responsible citizens.
I believe music education is used to support a learner holistically and motivate students to have positive feelings in the school. I hope the music and performing arts expression could support learners to have proper emotional and social skills which lead them to have a state of well-being in life and can support others in this challenging world.

& Reflection
The Summer Concert2023
My first summer concert at Harrow Nanning School, we had many great moments and developed our skills throughout the year.
Think back to day one. We have learned to know each other a lot. For a while,
I learned to adjust and get to know students' learning styles. Same as students, they were learning to adapt to my teaching strategy and understand my way. Through the inquiries, we constructed, co-created our shows and found solutions to achieve our performing goals. Performing on the stage is a challenging situation. I witnessed many resilient in my students and recognised the interdependence of group class learning.
I understand the importance of balancing different aspects of each class as a whole school music teacher. It was a beautiful balance of art expression in our concert. So much proud of my students ^^
Music Performing and Community service
Together for good, Harrow Nanning Public Welfare Project.
Through weeks of planning and rehearsing, Students have learned to experience EMPATHY, COMPASSION and RESPECT by volunteering to perform the charity event. we have learned to commit to service, and we act to make a positive difference in the lives of others and in our Nanning community. the students worked on raising funds from the morning till 3 pm. It was nearly 6 hours of on-and-off rainy day. However, music always lifts the vibes. We raised more than 20,000 RMB
(net profit).
My Lessons
Music Composition and Global Issues Project
The music composition unit transdisciplinary learning with the Exploring the World program under the theme "Global warming." 🌡🌏🔥🎶
Credit to the brilliant model project of the Institute on the Environment,
The University of Minnesota."The song of our warming planet."
I've inspired by a model project that used methodology to turn the data set into a song. I am impressed with the main concept they mentioned about visualisation data being effective for some people, but they aren't the best way to reach everyone. On the other hand, sounds and performance make people feel and realise what is behind the data deeply.
I applied this concept to use with G.5 composition project. Our Students composed a music piece from the theory that they've learned, starting from time signature, bar measurement, rhythms, and then pitch. The data that we used was the surface temperature data from NASA's Goddard Institute of Space Studies.
In the final process, I want them to hear their composed sounds. We used the Musesscore program to explore basic music technology and ensure their music notation skill. This is the most exciting part for them. They kept calling me to listen to their songs, and I did run around the ICT. room.
I am glad that our students have learned that music could be a tool to provoke people about global warming, not just only singing or drama play. Composing music pieces can be a way to raise awareness of all global issues.
G.5 Barn Dancing from
The Integrated Performing Art Project
The Big Circle Mountain Barn Dancing
🗻💃
"Circle dances come from the wonderful
of communities dancing together, a tradition which is timeless in original and yet relevant today in its capacity to foster togetherness. (Michaelsen)
The Integrated Performing Art unit is one of my favourite units of all time. The learning activities in this unit are pretty varied such as dance, drama, and composing the line and music to create a small class production.
At the beginning of the Project, I found that not every student is happy to dance. Many of them felt uncomfortable using body movements in response to the music. I always introduced the students to barn dancing before they would form their further ideas.
In my opinion, circle group dancing helps a lot to introduce very basic movements such as walking. lifting hands, change direction. Also, this dance requires cooperative working in small groups and can reach the big scale as a whole class. The outcomes were over-expected every time that I taught. Students were very well engaging and enjoyed making simple moves (but challenging enough). After the end of the circle dance, they always popped their inquiries which depended on their discussion and also their knowledge and cultural background. Moreover, it is good to interact with classmates. I always jumped into the group class and danced with my students. I never wanted to miss a big joyful moment and have a big laugh at our mistakes.
Explore Maori Culture form
Music Around the World Theme
I genuinely love music around the world theme🌏🎶🎵. We explored Maori culture Hakka dance expression and had a group discussion in the classroom to appreciate the different cultures.
My favorite part is the Maori stick game with the song "Tititorea E Papa Waiari". It was great fun to throw and catch the boomwhackers with their classmates. I realize this is the way that our students have learned to work cooperatively with friends, every time that they switch partners, they have to adapt to the new throwing momentum.
Even end the Maori music, they still request to play the stick game. Nice to see the Chinese students enjoy the Maori game in China 😁

🍁🍂🎶Autumn Music Theme for G.1-3
October 2023
We did the transdisciplinary work on the theme of "Autumn." It is pretty challenging for me as the climate in Nanning does not clearly show much about real Autumn. Here, it is still pretty much green😅🌳🌿. However, this is an eye-opening for students to explore something new.
What have we learned?
🎶Music content Beat& Rhythm. We read the rhythms and played along with the percussion. Later, we composed the basic music notation on Autumn Leaf, and our students had
a calm time designing their imaginary Autumn leaves🎨
The history of the Vivaldi. Who is Vivaldi? Where was he born? Why he was so good at Violin? Students asked me, "Why does Vivaldi have long hair?" this is a good link to the fashion in the 16th Century😆
We explored the poem and did a small role-play along with the song.🎭 Students were highly engaged when they imagined about dancing celebration, free flow Coca-Cola 😆🥤, and having a deep sleep.
It is a pleasure to see that music can be a tool to enable students to explore the world by connecting relevant learning concepts.
CCA. After School Music Club
I've been established the strings player since 2014
in three SCHOOLS. The music instrumental program for each year began with 80% of students are new beginner.
String CCA. Growing sprouts for young musical minds 🌱🎻
A positive environment, encouragement, and supportive community enhance students to earn necessary life skills from ensemble and stage experience❤️
From the first moment, we focused on holding and playing positions, which is a crucial foundation for students' health and musical instrument care.
Evidently, instrumental learning is a holistic education
to strengthen students' skills. Not just only music,
Our students have gained interpersonal skills, become risk takers and learned about manners by listening and respecting members through music ensemble activities. I am so proud that they can achieve a tiny step each week and they have done a great job on the stages.
